The HOPE Study
The HOPE Study (Health Outcomes of young People throughout Education) investigated the impact of adjustments for special educational needs and disability (SEND) on children’s health and aimed to provide evidence for the impact of different types of SEND provisions on children's health and educational outcomes, and to explore if lack of SEND support negatively influences children's development.
The study is completed. It was led by Prof Ruth Gilbert (UCL) and was funded by NIHR.
Chronic health conditions, school absence and attainment
This study aimed to understand why children with chronic health conditions struggle in school when compared to their peers without such conditions.
This study is completed; it was led by Dr Matt Jay, Dr Lauren Herlitz, Dr Claire Powell, Professor Jess Deighton, Dr Ruth Blackburn, Professor Ruth Gilbert (UCL) and was funded by the NIHR Children and Families Policy Research Unit.
